Does Sonos Work with Google Home

We recommend opening the app and signing in to your Google account before you begin. Sonos supports a variety of Google Assistant music control commands. You can't use both the volume 1-10 and commands at the same time, as they conflict with one another. If you turn both of them on, only one will work, most likely the scale. If you already have Google Assistant/Google Home linked with Sonos through previous methods, you can add additional IFTTT commands on top. Another way you can link Google Assistant and Sonos devices together for select functions is through IFTTT .

How to Connect Google Home to Sonos Speakers

Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same accountas your Google Nest or Home speaker. Choose the rooms you would like to set up and then tap Add Google Assistant. Other Sonos speakers that can use Google Assistant include the Sonos Arc, Beam, Move, One, and Roam. Sonos provides the option of either Google Assistant or Alexa voice control, allowing you to use the one that works best for you. You are prompted to allow IFTTT to work with Google Assistant and Sonos products for the commands you select. Sonos One/Beam with Google Assistant included doesn’t support voice commands from multiple users. Additionally, unlike a Google Home, tailored answers for multiple users is not possible.

However, recently Sonos has created a line of its speakers that work with Google Assistant to allow you to use the voice assistant to use your speakers. You can also play music from the following services, though they aren't listed in the Google Assistant app. Make sure the music services you added in Google Assistant have been added in the Sonos app. Google Assistant detects your Sonos One or Beam, requests permission to access and control it, asks what room it's in, and adds the music services you want to use. Once your system is set up, you may notice that you can no longer easily control the volume of your Google Home device. When you ask it to change volume (“Ok Google, set volume to 6”), your Google Home speaker will default to changing the volume on its default speaker, the Sonos system.

This means a Google Home device can handle all the advanced smart home control features, but you can also tell it to play music through your other Sonos speakers and products.
